VENUE
How to
find us
The venue is 3 miles from J47 of the A1(M), around
the corner from the 1C bus stop and a 15 minute
walk by public footpath (or 5 minute taxi ride)
from Knaresborough train station. It is adjacent
to the King George playing field and public footpath.
There is parking available at the centre and on
Halfpenny Close and Halfpenny Lane. There are
many small hotels and B&Bs available in the
area. Click
here for a list of accommodation in the area.
A new platform lift has been installed so that
people with disabilities can access the facilities
on the first floor. There are plenty of folding
6' long tables and chairs.
A Powerpoint projector, screen,
laptop, DVD player, overhead projector and flipcharts
are available for your use.
The venue is available for
full day hire on Friday, Saturday
and Sunday, and for hourly rental
during select times on the remaining weekdays.
It is also available all day
during school holiday periods.

Ground
Floor Studio

The 1000 square foot ground
floor studio is a bright open space with a cathedral
ceiling, skylights and wood flooring. There is
a small refrigerator and coffee/tea facilities
at the back of the studio.
The studio can be set up for
training courses/conferences with 6' long tables
and chairs, or left empty for physical activity
events like dance and exercise sessions. Thanks
to a generous grant from WREN, there is ceiling
hoisting for wheelchair users to get down to exercise
mats on the floor.
Off the studio are disabled
toilet facilities, a water cooler and a storage
area with exercise mats, blocks, belts, fitness
balls and blankets.
The studio can be
hired for £20 an hour or £120 for
the whole day. We offer a 33% discount for BWY
(British Wheel of Yoga) courses and events run
by the BWY regional committee.

1st Floor
The WREN funding has allowed
a complete renovation upstairs with 3 new toilet/changing
rooms, one of which is a very large disabled toilet
and shower room complete with ceiling hoist. Across
from the lift, there is a sitting area where clients
can wait for their therapy appointments.
Studio/Meeting
Room
Again, thanks to WREN, this
room has been enlarged and it is no longer a throughway
to the toilets and changing facilities. It can
be used as a 2nd studio for small classes (up
to 8 yoga mats), a meeting room for up to 24 people
theatre style or up to 18 people at tables. There
is a kitchenette with sink, built-in fridge, built-in
freezer, microwave and plenty of glasses, crockery
and cutlery. There is also a 2-ring electric hob
and 2 slow cookers. A bamboo screen can be put
up to mask the kitchen area.
£9 an hour
Available days, evenings and weekends!
Therapy/Treatment
Room

The Treatment/Therapy Room
is next to the Disabled WC/shower room and has
its own hand basin, dressing area, massage couch,
sound system. There is an X-Y ceiling hoist for
wheelchair users to access the massage couch.
Downstairs reception is manned Mon-Fri from 9-5:30.
Day rate or block hire fee based on number of
hours booked can be negotiated.
Available Mon-Fri 5-9 pm for
£20 per evening.
Special Fitness Room

Behind a removable curtain
in the Therapy Room is a range of WREN-funded
physiotherapy equipment for people with disabilities,
including those enrolled on our Fit4Health
programme. Once users have received induction
training on the equipment, the room can be hired
by the hour for groups of 2-3 people. There is
a Tilt Table and MotoMed for wheelchair users,
plus a new Balancemaster, remedial parallel bars,
treadmill, chi machine, height measurer and Tanita
body composition monitor.
MINIBUS
The new 16-seater Mercedes
Sprinter minibus has been converted so that it
can transport up to 6 wheelchair users. When all
6 wheelchair spaces are needed, there are 4 passenger
seats left. It has two sunroofs which makes the
interior light and airy. There is also a reversing
camera. The bus can be hired
by the day or half-day by other not-for-profit
groups who are needing to transport people with
disabilities. Our insurance covers any driver
from 21-70 who has D1 on their licence.
