Community Grants Programme

FREE ESF COMMUNITY GRANTS PLACES FOR UNEMPLOYED OVER 50s

If you are age 50 or over and work under 8 hours a week, you are eligible to be a part of our new ESF Community Grants programme that takes place from January to July 2012.

You will be able to attend a choice of 3 exercise classes for FREE and get some additional skills training via our volunteer programme.

The exercise classes include sessions for the Gentle Years and two new classes, a Nordic Walking weekly class and a new Yoga and Fitness class which combines yoga in the studio and fitness routines on the new equipment upstairs. Both of these new classes take place on a weekday. The three classes will still be open for regular enrolment by fee-paying students of course.

The extra skills training for Community Grants participants take place right before or after your weekly class and involve one of four activities: 1) putting together an illustrated manual showing the modifications required for Gentle Years Yoga, 2) training to become a Volunteer Walk Leader in the Walking for Health accredited Nordic Walking programme, 3) putting together a manual for 'volunteer training buddies' who will be working with disabled people in the fitness room, or 4) getting MiDAS (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme) training as a minibus driver and developing the policies and procedures for our new community transport scheme.

To express your interest in being involved as a Community Grants participant, please email us for further details and indicate which of the classes you are interested in attending.
