Laura
Bissell - Founding Director/Yoga Teacher
Laura is the British
Wheel of Yoga Regional Officer for the Yorkshire and Humber
region and the BWY Regional Child Protection Officer. She has
been practising Yoga for over 30 years, firstly in America and
since 1988 in Britain. During the Yoga for Health Foundation’s
Teacher Training course at Ickwell Bury in 1994/95, Laura started
training to teach hatha yoga. At Ickwell Bury, Laura was impressed
by the real commitment there to offer ‘yoga for all’
-- this planted the seed for opening a local yoga centre dedicated
for the whole community. Laura
refined her teaching skills with the British Wheel of Yoga's
three-year diploma course; she is now a BWY Foundation Course
Tutor and provisional Diploma Course Tutor. Laura has completed
three BWY advanced modules: 1) Pranayama based on the system
of Swami Gitananda, 2) Yoga for Pregnancy and 3) Ayurveda. She
is a Remedial Yoga Therapist, having done advanced training
for physical disabilities at the Yoga for Health Foundation,
plus YOU & ME training with its emphasis on learning disabilities.
Further 'specialty' training has been completed with teaching
certificates in Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga from Union Yoga, dedicated
to the original Mysore tradition of Sri K Pattabhi Jois; Baby
Yoga & Massage from Francoise Freedman's Birthlight programme;
and Modern Pilates, a course developed by Physiotherapist Christopher
Norris, author of "Back Stability" and "Abdominal
Training, Enhancing Core Stability". Laura has a Bachelor
of Fine Arts degree from the University of Texas and is a qualified
secondary school teacher in England. |

Sheena
Rayner - BWY Yoga Teacher,
Childrens Yoga & Yoga for the Special Child Teacher
Sheena is an NNEB qualified nursery nurse -- her creative ideas
have brought excellence to early childhood education in Leeds
over the last 15 years. She has served as the Child Protection
Officer for numerous organisations and is a contributor to the
Safeguarding Children Board in North Yorkshire. She is a fully
qualified British Wheel of Yoga teacher who has done further
training with Veronica Burningham in Yoga for Children and with
Sonia Sumar and Jo Manuel in Yoga for the Special Child. Sheena
has her own children's yoga business in Leeds -- Calmer Kids
Yoga Limited. |

Jane
Lewis - BWY
Hatha Yoga Teacher
Jane Lewis is a British Wheel
of Yoga (BWY) Teacher and has been teaching hatha yoga for over
13 years. She is the previous Chairman of the West Yorkshire
Yoga Federation and served for many years as the regional editor
of the British Wheel of Yoga magazine Wheels Within.
Her wide-ranging interests in the spiritual, esoteric and philosophical
aspects of yoga are gently woven into her own practice of hatha
yoga and teaching style. Her approach to teaching is to bring
together Mind Body and Spirit through the limbs of yoga, including
postures, breathing/ pranayama, relaxation and meditation. She
places particular importance on positive thinking, creative
visualization and exploring the symbolic language of yoga postures
as a means of personal development and growth. |

Andrea
Lascelles BWY Hatha Yoga,
Friday afternoons
Andrea
completed a British Wheel of Yoga (BWY) Foundation course and
later embarked on the BWY Teaching Diploma, qualifying in July
2005. She has also recently qualified as a yoga teacher with
the
Satyananda School of Yoga, which offers a holistic and scientifically
researched approach to the practice of yoga in life.
She has completed the BWY post diploma modules in Ayurveda
and Yoga for Children and has qualified with Swami Pragyamurti
as a Yoga Nidra teacher. Andrea is also a qualified Diagnostic
Radiographer and has been able to capitalise on her extensive
knowledge of anatomy, physiology and alignment, to assist her
in her teaching. More recently Andrea has become influenced
and inspired by . Andrea also became a certified Angel Therapy
Practitioner (ATP) with Doreen Virtue PhD in May 2005; and hopes
to work with Indigo and Crystal children in the future. Through
yoga and experiences in her own life Andrea can offer people
help with stress management and access a more positive approach
to their life. |

Lorraine
Allan - Ashtanga
Teacher, BWY Student Teacher
Lorraine Allan is currently on
Terri Hilder's British Wheel of Yoga (BWY) Teacher Training
Diploma Course. She did her BWY Foundation Course training with
Laura Bissell in 2006 and has been hooked on yoga since 2001
when she started in Laura's Hatha and Ashtanga classes in Harrogate.
She has further studied Ashtanga Yoga with David Swenson, Vera
Oates, Christopher Gladwell and Mike Nevitt. Lorraine has many
years' experience working in schools with special needs children.
She teaches the Ashtanga classes on Wed and Thursdays and has
been assisting Sheena in the Yoga for Teens class on Tuesday
evenings. |

Sandy
Lincoln Pilates
Teacher, BWY Student Teacher
Sandy trained as a dancer and dance instructor, working for
many years with a small modern dance company. She has had wide
experience teaching various forms of dance to a great range
of people from beginners to professionals and from children
to adults. Like a lot of dancers, she discovered Pilates to
be beneficial and ended up training in Pilates, which she has
been teaching for several years. She is also now halfway through
the British Wheel of Yoga teacher training diploma course. She
particularly enjoys the remedial aspects of both Pilates and
Yoga and Sandy is an assistant teacher at the Able & Enabled
Yoga class on Thursdays. Interestingly, Sandy has a degree in
Chinese! |
